Collaboration in EU Framework Programmes (FP6 and FP7)

New Zealand participation in EU Framework Programmes:

The EU defines New Zealand as an industrialised third country.

  • New Zealand-EU Framework Programme collaboration is governed by the 2008 New Zealand-EU STC Agreement.
  • New Zealand researchers may participate as full partners in FPs where they provide something of value to the project.

Further details concerning participation in FP7 are available here.

Framework Programme funding schemes:

The research costs of New Zealand researchers involved in FP projects are either:

  • 100% funded from New Zealand funds, or;
  • funded 50:50 from New Zealand and EU funds, if;
  • the work programme/call provides for this, or;
  • the New Zealand research contribution is essential for carrying out the project

Further details concerning Framework Programme funding schemes are set out in Annex III of the FP7 Rules for Participation.
