Collaboration in EU Framework Programmes (FP6 and FP7)
New Zealand participation in EU Framework Programmes:
The EU defines New Zealand as an industrialised third country.
- New Zealand-EU Framework Programme collaboration is governed by the 2008 New Zealand-EU STC Agreement.
- New Zealand researchers may participate as full partners in FPs where they provide something of value to the project.

Framework Programme funding schemes:
The research costs of New Zealand researchers involved in FP projects are either:
- 100% funded from New Zealand funds, or;
- funded 50:50 from New Zealand and EU funds, if;
- the work programme/call provides for this, or;
- the New Zealand research contribution is essential for carrying out the project
