Centres of Research Excellence (CoREs)
The Centres of Research Excellence (CoREs) Fund was established in 2001 to encourage the development of collaborative world-class research:
- The CoREs Fund is administered by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC).
- CoREs are primarily, but not exclusively, inter-institutional research networks, with researchers working together on a commonly agreed work programme.
- Each CoRE is hosted by a university and comprises a number of partner organisations including other universities, CRIs and wananga.
Seven CoREs have been established. They are concerned with:
